a little about us
The Presserie is a collaboration between two sisters, Ayla & Sunnee, from Northern California.
Jointly, we are the designers and makers behind the brand. Each piece we produce has been lovingly designed and printed by hand in our studios on vintage presses. Our paper goods are inspired by our surroundings, love of travel and quality supplies.
We discovered the art of letterpress in 2016 when Ayla was planning her wedding in Carmel Valley. The paper goods were delicate, textured and playful in appearance, when combined with the impression in the thick paper it created the ultimate sophistication. We were instantly obsessed. In the years since, we have acquired a few letterpresses — a Heidelberg Windmill, a Chandler & Price and a tabletop Kelsey Model X. These presses are able to perform different tasks making us versatile and able to create cards, business cards, invitations, announcements as well as custom work.
Letterpress printing is such a rewarding and humbling process as we are intimately involved in each step of production. We design, draw, write, print, cut, package and deliver each piece we create. This close proximity to each step of the process creates the ideal situation for us to collaborate with clients on custom work. We aim to create cards, invitations, business cards — really all types of paper goods to give the clients and recipients the same appreciation we have for letterpress. Our aesthetic is deeply rooted in the diverse and stunning landscape of California. Up to this point, we have predominantly focused on the Lake Tahoe area. Sunnee has moved back to Squaw Valley to run our family market, giving us the perfect platform to launch our cards and build our business organically. Being in a tourist driven environment, we saw a lack of quality, clean and simple souvenirs. With this in mind, we have worked to create a more aesthetically pleasing souvenir for visitors. As we progress, we hope to expand this concept to other destinations in California and beyond.
